Helen’s Meadow
Movement
BACKGROUND
The grounds of Stevens-Coolidge estate have experienced a lot of change in the last few centuries. The lands here were originally used by Penacook, Pawtucket, Massa-adchu-es-et, and Pentucket people as hunting and fishing grounds.
This area has transformed many times since then. In the 1700’s it was home to White Ash Trees, a farm, grazing fields, and now a meadow with an elevated view.
PROMPT
Recall a time you experienced change. List a few words to describe how you felt before, during, and after. Create a movement with your body that expresses each phase of that transition. If you’re feeling brave, climb a mount in Helen’s Meadow and perform your three movements of change.
